During a recent public interaction in Karachi, the Peace TV founder expressed his concerns over YouTube monetization, labeling it “haram” due to the nature of advertisements shown.
Responding to a question, Dr. Naik highlighted ethical issues surrounding ad revenue, especially content featuring women and music. He stated, “Even if you block alcohol ads, there will still be inappropriate ads featuring women, which can’t be controlled.”
Dr. Naik further pointed out that, despite his large following and significant potential earnings, many channels that re-share his content use thumbnails with images of women, distorting his original message. These channels often receive more views than his official content.
He also mentioned that his clips have been shadow-banned, leading to fewer views, though audience engagement has increased since his arrival in Pakistan.
Dr. Naik concluded by advising content creators not to seek profit through inappropriate channels. He emphasized that focusing on faith rather than monetization would bring greater blessings and not negatively impact their livelihoods.

This lecture should serve as an eye opener to YouTubers who are concerned only about earning money and increase in the number of followers, by hook or crook. Even in Quran recitation video or Hadith and other religious lectures suddenly we get obscene ads of na mehram girls and ladies and what not, which is an irritant. By these advertisements only You Tube gives them hefty amounts. This is definitely haram, as pointed out by Dr. Zakir Naik. Therefore this haram earnings should be completely done away with, if they want to please Allah and our beloved Prophet (PBU). There are many ways of earning halal income. Don’t fall into the Shaitaan’s trap, who is bent upon taking us to the Hell. Let Allah show us all the right path. Jazakallah khair.
