A Sudanese student studying in India was tragically killed while defending his female friends from harassment. The incident took place near Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Jalandhar, Punjab, in the early hours of the morning.
The victim, 24-year-old Mohamed Wada, and his cousin Ahmed Mohamed Nour, were attacked with sharp weapons by a group of men after confronting them for harassing two female friends. Wada succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital, while Nour remains hospitalized with serious injuries.
According to local reports, the assault occurred around 4 a.m. near the university’s Law Gate when the group was walking together. The attackers, reportedly under the influence, approached and demanded the women’s phone numbers, prompting Wada and Nour to intervene.
Nour filed a complaint with police, leading to the arrest of six suspects: Aditya Garg, Kuwar Amar Partap Singh, Sushank alias Shaggy, Abdul Ahadh, Mohammed Shoaib and Yash Vardhan Rajput—all in their 20s.

The incident has sparked outrage both locally and internationally. A petition titled “Seek Justice for Hero Mohamed Wada” has gained momentum online, demanding swift justice and a full investigation into the attackers’ backgrounds. Over 1,000 verified signatures have been recorded so far.
