Sheikh Abu Ishaq Al-Huwaini, a well-known Salafi scholar, passed away at the age of 69 in Qatar following a stroke. His son, Hatem Al-Huwaini, confirmed that the scholar was hospitalized but succumbed to his declining health.
The funeral prayer will be held at the Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab Mosque after the Asr prayer on Wednesday, with the burial to follow at Mesaimeer Cemetery.
The news of his death has deeply affected his followers, many of whom have expressed their grief and shared tributes on social media. Al-Huwaini was widely respected for his dedication to Islamic teachings and his role as a religious guide.

Who Was Abu Ishaq Al-Huwaini?

Born Hegazy Mohamed Youssef Sherif in 1955 in the village of Huwin, Egypt, Abu Ishaq Al-Huwaini became a prominent Salafi scholar. He was known for his Islamic preaching and hosted the program “Fadfada” on Al-Nas TV. He also managed Al-Rahma TV, using these platforms to spread Islamic knowledge through lectures and religious programs.
Al-Huwaini devoted his life to studying and teaching Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh) and creed (Aqeedah). He was especially recognized for his expertise in Hadith science, where he focused on verifying texts and analyzing chains of narration, following the methods of leading Hadith scholars.
In addition to his academic work, Al-Huwaini was active in the media, delivering lessons and lectures that helped popularize Hadith studies. He also engaged in discussions within Salafism, offering critical perspectives on ijtihad (independent reasoning) and textual interpretation.
