Saudi Arabia has launched the “Badal” service, enabling qualified individuals to perform Umrah on behalf of someone else who cannot make the pilgrimage. This service is ideal for those who are elderly, dealing with health issues, or for people who wish to perform Umrah in memory of a deceased loved one.

Umrah Badal ensures that all rituals are carried out with devotion and spiritual authenticity. The designated person will perform all the rituals, offer dua on behalf of the individual, and provide evidence of completion.

This service will also be expanded to include Hajj in the future, offering an opportunity for people to fulfill these sacred obligations even if they cannot attend in person.

  1. We have heard aboutHajj-e-Badal but not about Umra badal. This is a news to the ears. Umra is not at all obligatory neither Fard or Wajib. It is only Nafil and not at all necessary for the categories mentioned therein. Only Hajj is obligatory and there is sense in doing Hajj Badal in the case of a diseased person or sick and old people. After hearing about this offer some ignorants will opt for Umra Badal for the above category of persons, without first performing the Hajj badal. Therefore it will be much better to first introduce Hajj badal then go for Umra badal, which is not at all necessary. It is only a ploy to earn money from gullible people without spending a penny on them. The charges are only for performing the rituals by hiring or appointing a person by the Government itself. Ulemmas should definitely look into it and give a fatwa.
