Saudi Arabia Sets Iftar Rules In Masjid al-Haram For Ramadan 2024

New Rules to Serve Iftar at the Grand Mosque announced for Ramadan 2024.

Ramadan, the month of fasting and spiritual devotion for Muslims, is expected to start on March 11 this year.

With several rules coming into being regarding Umrah and Hajj the General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques, has announced a new set of rules that includes the procedure for those individuals who are willing to serve iftar in the Holy Mosques in the upcoming Umrah Season and Ramadan 2024.

Serving iftar is an act of charity and generosity that many Muslims perform during Ramadan in the cities of Mecca and Medina.

If an individual intends to serve iftar he must follow the following rules:

  • The benefactors, whether individuals or groups, must apply online and choose the location of the Iftar service at the mosque electronically.
  • They must hire a catering company that is approved by the Mecca authority.
  • They must use factories and warehouses that are certified by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority.
  • An individual benefactor can serve up to two banquets, while a charity group can serve up to 10 banquets.
  • The agency has also specified the type and packaging of the meal. The meal must be dry and can consist of dates, a cake, a pie, and juice.
  • The meal must be wrapped according to the accredited standards and must comply with all the conditions and terms that will be published online later.

These rules are stated to ensure quality services to the pilgrims and to enhance their overall Umrah experience as a whole.

The blessed month of Ramadhan is indeed a peak Umrah season when pilgrims from all over the world visit the holiest places which include Mecca and Medina. Medina is home to many other Islamic landmarks that attract pilgrims and visitors.
