Competition Launched to Select Top Chefs for Pilgrim Meals at Two Holy Mosques

Ministry of Hajj and Umrah invites culinary talents to enhance the dining experience for “Guests of the Most Merciful”.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has launched the “Igaathathon” (Catering-thon) challenge, a first-of-its-kind culinary competition to select elite chefs who will create distinctive dishes for pilgrims visiting the holy sites.

To revolutionize the catering system for the pilgrims through improved quality, diversity, and nutritional value of meals.

Registration for the competition opens from August 20-28, 2025, with chefs invited to showcase their skills in developing authentic Saudi dishes that represent the kingdom’s rich cultural heritage.

The competition focuses on four key objectives:

  1. Enhancing the catering system for pilgrims
  2. Creating diverse and nutritious dishes
  3. Improving overall pilgrim experiences
  4. Promoting authentic Saudi cuisine.

Selected chefs will work alongside the Ministry to implement new culinary standards across holy sites.
