According to Anadolu Agency, a far-right Danish politician burned a copy of the Holy Quran outside a mosque in Denmark on Friday in another act of Islamophobia, provocation, and blasphemy.
A copy of the Holy Quran was burned outside the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm on January 21 under police protection and with permission from the authorities by Paludan, the leader of the Danish far-right party Stram Kurs (Hard Line).
As he walked towards the mosque after Friday prayers in Copenhagen’s Dortheavej district, he took his place just across from it.
Police cordoned off an area before a gas station where the far-right politician burned the Holy Quran wearing a helmet.
As Paludan stared at the Muslims leaving the mosque following Friday prayers, he waved material intended to insult the Prophet Muhammad of Islam.
The mosque community remained calm despite the provocateur. To avoid provocation, prominent congregation members advised those leaving the mosque to leave the area.
Danish police closed the street for entry and exit during security measures around the mosque.
Meanwhile, police warned a group of young Muslim men possessing water and fire extinguishers.
A loudspeaker outside the mosque recited takbirs of tashriq prayers during Paludan’s provocation.
For about 40 minutes, Paludan remained under the protection of the police in the area.
