Pepsi Launches Teem Amid Sales Decline Due to Boycott

PepsiCo has recently launched a new beverage, Teem, in response to declining sales caused by a widespread boycott in Muslim-majority countries.

The boycott from a growing movement among consumers in the Muslim majority regions to avoid products manufactured by companies like Coca-Cola and Pepsi, in solidarity with Palestine and as part of broader protests against Israeli policies.

In recent months, there has been a great shift in consumer behavior in Muslim-majority countries. Many consumers have been actively buying the alternatives to products from large MNCs like Coca-Cola and Pepsi, which are supporting Israeli interests.

This shift in the consumer behavior has led to the rise of locally produced beverages, such as Palestine Cola and other regional alternatives, which vary from country to country.

The introduction of Teem is seen as a strategic move to appeal to consumers who might be less brand-conscious and more open to trying new products, especially those perceived as alternatives to the traditional Coca-Cola and Pepsi sub-brands.

There is a belief that many Muslims might consume Teem under the impression that it is an independent or alternative brand, separate from PepsiCo. This perception could potentially help PepsiCo mitigate the impact of the boycott and attract consumers back to their products.

Teem has been added to the boycott list.
