LONDON: In the UK, Muhammad has once again emerged as the most popular baby name for boys this year, as indicated by new data.
Data from BabyCentre, highlighted in The Mirror, displays nearly twenty Muslim names for boys and girls among the top 100 names for each gender.
Within the top 100 names for boys, several other Muslim names featured prominently, such as Ali, Abdullah, Ibrahim, Abdul, Musa, Ahmed, Yusuf, Omar, Zayn, and Hamza.
Among the top names for girls, Layla ranked highest among Muslim names, securing the 31st spot. Additionally, other favored names included Maryam, Fatima, Nur, Aisha, Zahra, and Raya.
The tradition of naming sons after Muhammad is widespread in Muslim communities, which naturally leads to the name’s prominence among UK births with a high Muslim population.
