At Shiralakoppa in southern Karnataka state, 58 students protested against the college administration after they were suspended for refusing to remove their headscarves.
The students were from the Government Pre-University College of Shiralakoppa.
In addition, tension also prevailed in the districts of Belagavi, Yadgir, Bellary, Chitradurgam, and Shiamogga, where students wearing head scarves/hijab tried to enter classrooms.
