Indians Troll Mohammed Siraj for Thanking Allah on T20 World Cup Win

Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has faced a wave of online trolling after he publicly thanked Allah following India’s recent T20 World Cup victory.

This reaction has sparked a broader conversation about the rise of Islamophobia in India, showcasing the types of challenges that Muslims in the country are increasingly encountering.

After the match, Siraj expressed his gratitude to Allah for the win, a gesture that is not uncommon among athletes who often thank their faith for their successes.

However, this simple act of faith led to a flood of negative comments on social media. Many users mocked Siraj, with some going as far as to say that if his God had indeed played a role in winning the World Cup, then Pakistan, a predominantly Muslim country, would have won it many more times.

These comments not only targeted Siraj’s faith but also showed a disturbing trend of religious intolerance.

The incident has brought to light the growing issue of Islamophobia in India, where Muslims often find themselves targeted for their beliefs.

This isn’t an isolated incident. The rise of Islamophobia in India has been well-documented, with numerous reports of hate crimes, discrimination, and inflammatory rhetoric against the Muslim community.

Social media platforms have often been a breeding ground for such sentiments, where anonymity and the absence of immediate repercussions embolden individuals to express their prejudices more openly.
