What Happens After Arafah Day?

After sunset on 9 Dhul-Hijjah, pilgrims proceed to Muzdalifah, combine Maghrib and Isha, collect pebbles, and stay overnight. On 10th Dhul-Hijjah, they stone the largest Jamarat, offer sacrifice, shave head, and perform Tawaf al-Ifadah in Makkah. The following three days (Tashreeq) include stoning all three pillars in Mina. Hajj concludes with Farewell Tawaf.

The Arafah Day khutbah is expected on Tuesday, 26 May 2026 (9 Dhul-Hijjah). The Arafah khutbah is delivered from Masjid Namirah after midday (Dhuhr time in Makkah, approx. 12:15 PM Saudi time). Keep this page open or bookmark it and return on the day.

The Day of Arafah (9 Dhul-Hijjah) is the most important day of Hajj and one of the holiest days in the Islamic calendar. The Prophet ﷺ said it expiates sins of the past and coming year for those who fast. The standing at Arafat is the central pillar of Hajj — without it, the Hajj is not valid.

Wednesday, 27 May 2026 (10th Dhul-Hijjah 1447 AH). This is subject to official moon sighting confirmation by the Saudi Supreme Court, but the anticipated date is May 27.

Over 2.5 million pilgrims from more than 180 countries are expected to perform Hajj 2026, making it one of the largest Hajj gatherings in history.

After the Day of Arafah (9th Dhul-Hijjah), pilgrims proceed as follows:

  • Night of Muzdalifah (after sunset on 9th): Pilgrims move from Arafah to Muzdalifah, combine Maghrib and Isha prayers, spend the night under the open sky, and collect pebbles for the stoning ritual.

  • 10th Dhul-Hijjah (Eid al-Adha): Pilgrims return to Mina to stone the large Jamarat pillar (Jamarat al-Aqabah), offer the sacrificial animal (Qurbani), shave or cut their hair (partial exit from Ihram), and then go to Makkah to perform Tawaf al-Ifadah and Sa’i.

  • 11th–13th Dhul-Hijjah (Days of Tashreeq): Pilgrims remain in Mina and stone all three Jamarat pillars each day after midday.

Hajj 2026 officially ends on Saturday, 30 May 2026 (13th Dhul-Hijjah 1447 AH). On this final day, pilgrims complete the last round of stoning the Jamarat in Mina and then perform the Farewell Tawaf (Tawaf al-Wada) at Masjid al-Haram in Makkah before departing.
