The Ghusl Kaaba (cleansing of the Holy Kaaba), take place on the 15th of Muharram, 1447 AH, which is expected to correspond to either Thursday, July 10 or Friday 2025, based on the citation of the moon.
This ritual sees senior officials, religious scholars, and dignitaries from across the Muslim world participate in washing the interior walls with a fragrant mixture of Zamzam water, rose water, and fine oud.
As per tradition, the ceremony is led under the guidance of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques or a representative, and it serves as both a physical and spiritual act of reverence and renewal for the structure toward which over a billion Muslims direct their daily prayers.
The Ka’bah’s door curtain was raised after tonight’s Isha prayers in preparation for the annual Ghusl Ka’bah ceremony, with the Kiswah section in front of the door lifted to facilitate entry inside the Ka’bah.

The yearly ritual of washing the Kabah (Ghusl Ka’bah) is scheduled to occur following the fajr prayer.
Taif roses are hand-picked to produce rose water, which is then combined with Zamzam water for cleansing the Kaaba’s interior during the Ghusl ceremony.
Equipment used for Ghusl Ka’bah: 40 liters of Zamzam water stored in two silver vessels, Zamzam water mixed with 540 ml of Taif rose water, 24 ml of premium Taif rose oil, 24 ml of sanctuary Oud oil, and 3 ml of musk for perfuming the Kaaba’s walls and floor.
This ceremony typically occurs twice annually—once before Ramadan and again in the early days of Muharram, following Hajj.
Although only a select few are invited to witness it in person, the images and videos shared across the Muslim world turn this intimate act into a moment of shared spiritual connection.
