The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques and Umm Al-Qura University have jointly launched “Hedayah Thon.”
Announced as the first competitive technological event of its kind, the hackathon challenges innovators to develop digital solutions for the better services for pilgrims and visitors at the Masjid al-Haram and the Masjid an-Nabawi.
Imam of Masjid al-Haram, Maher al Muaiqly also joined the launching ceremony.
“With the approach of the month of Ramadan, we are accelerating our efforts to launch the first religious platform that uses technology to serve the millions of pilgrims and visitors at the Two Holy Mosques.”

He expressed appreciation for the partnership with Umm Al-Qura University and called on creators and developers to participate in generating tangible impact.

The collaboration was affirmed by university leadership. His Excellency Prof. Obaid bin Ali Al-Mazuf, President of Umm Al-Qura University, stated the university takes pride in its strategic partnership with the Presidency for this initiative, viewing “Hidayah Thon” as an innovative gateway to serve the Two Holy Mosques.
Dr. Salem bin Ali Areej, the General Supervisor of the event, explained that the Hedayah Hackathon serves as an innovative channel for developing the entire digital religious services ecosystem. He noted that the event will provide participants with multiple competitive fields, allowing them to address a wide range of challenges and opportunities in service development for the holy sites.
