Air India has officially announced that, effective November 17, 2024, non-vegetarian meals served onboard will no longer be Halal-certified.
This decision applies to flights across all classes, including economy, business, and first class, and is part of the airline’s broader policy adjustments.
To accommodate Muslim passengers and others who specifically require Halal-certified meals, Air India will continue to offer a Muslim Meal (MOML) option, which travelers can select when booking their tickets.
This MOML option, certified as Halal, must be pre-booked during the ticket reservation process to ensure availability.
It is important to note that only meals specifically ordered under this option will comply with Halal dietary requirements, while standard non-vegetarian offerings will not.
The vegetarian meal options available on Air India will continue to be served as per standard preparation but will also not hold Halal certification.
Muslim travelers are advised to check meal options carefully while booking and to select the MOML (Muslim Meal) for Halal compliance, as this will be the only Halal-certified option available onboard Air India flights going forward.
