Denmark: An international study has revealed that children’s plastic toys use harmful chemicals that can cause cancer.
An article published in the leading medical journal Science Direct has revealed that more than 100 harmful chemicals in children’s plastic toys can be very detrimental to children’s health.
The study found 419 hard, soft, and foamy chemicals used in children’s plastic toys, 126 of which identified substances that could harm children’s health through cancer or non-cancer impact.
A researcher at the University of Denmark, Dr. Peter Fantke, said the harmful chemicals included 31 plasticizers, 18 flame retardants, and eight toxic perfume chemicals.
The research suggests that plastic toys must be labeled with chemicals used in their manufacture. An organization such as the Food Safety Monitor seeks to prevent the use of harmful chemicals in plastic products.
