DHAKA, Bangladesh — Bangladesh has announced further reductions in Hajj package prices for the 2026 pilgrimage season after failing to fill its Saudi-allocated quota of 127,198 pilgrims for three consecutive years.
The government has cut prices by an additional $100, bringing the minimum package cost to $3,890 in response to persistent challenges of high inflation and airfare costs that have limited participation.
The reduction follows last year’s price cuts of up to 20%, which only resulted in a marginal increase of 2,000 pilgrims. Abdul Awal Hawlader, additional secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, told Arab News that high airfare remained a significant barrier, prompting this year’s additional reduction.
“We hope that the reduced Hajj package rate will be affordable, and it will help increase the number of Hajj pilgrims from Bangladesh,” he stated.
The basic package includes accommodation in Aziziya, several kilometers from the Grand Mosque, with two premium options offering closer proximity. Registration has shown promising early results, with over 50,000 preliminary applications submitted since late July.
The October 12 registration deadline approaches as authorities express optimism about filling the quota for the first time since 2022.
Special flights are scheduled to begin in mid-April 2026, accommodating pilgrims who prefer extended spiritual preparation.
