City authorities have activated a set of pedestrian signals in the area surrounding the Haramain Train station in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, officials announced.
The Makkah Projects program to make walking routes safer and more convenient for pilgrims, residents and workers near the transport hub.
The newly operating crossings are intended to regulate foot traffic at busy junctions, reduce jaywalking and help pedestrians cross roads that serve the station and nearby facilities.

Municipal teams coordinated the installation with traffic management departments to ensure the signals link smoothly with existing road controls and pedestrian paths.
Authorities said the step responds to increased footfall around the station, particularly during prayer times and peak travel periods.
Planners aim to shorten walking distances, improve traffic flow and lower the risk of accidents between vehicles and pedestrians.
The works also include refreshed road markings and signage to guide visitors unfamiliar with the area.
