YouTube Earning Is Haram, Says Zakir Naik

Islamic scholar Dr. Zakir Naik has urged content creators to be cautious about YouTube’s monetization program, calling it “Haram” based on Islamic principles.

During a recent public interaction in Karachi, the Peace TV founder expressed his concerns over YouTube monetization, labeling it “haram” due to the nature of advertisements shown.

Responding to a question, Dr. Naik highlighted ethical issues surrounding ad revenue, especially content featuring women and music. He stated, “Even if you block alcohol ads, there will still be inappropriate ads featuring women, which can’t be controlled.”

Dr. Naik further pointed out that, despite his large following and significant potential earnings, many channels that re-share his content use thumbnails with images of women, distorting his original message. These channels often receive more views than his official content.

He also mentioned that his clips have been shadow-banned, leading to fewer views, though audience engagement has increased since his arrival in Pakistan.

Dr. Naik concluded by advising content creators not to seek profit through inappropriate channels. He emphasized that focusing on faith rather than monetization would bring greater blessings and not negatively impact their livelihoods.
