A video making rounds on social media falsely claims that Sheikh Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, Imam of Masjid Al-Haram, offered a dua (supplication) about the ongoing Pakistan-India tensions.
However, officials and experts have confirmed that the video is entirely fabricated, using artificial intelligence to splice together old visuals with recycled audio.

The misleading clip features scenes from Masjid Al-Haram, coupled with a dua that many viewers believed to be recent and politically charged.
Upon closer examination, the audio used in the video is actually from a verified sermon delivered by Sheikh Al-Sudais on August 30, 2022, in which he prayed for the victims of catastrophic floods in Pakistan.
No new prayer or comment has been made by Sheikh Al-Sudais about the current India-Pakistan situation, and the Presidency of Religious Affairs has issued no such statement.
The use of AI to simulate the voice and presence of a trusted religious figure has raised serious concerns about the growing threat of misinformation online.
Officials and scholars are urging the public to avoid sharing the video and to seek information only from official and verified sources.
