UK Riots: Egg Attack at Peacehaven Mosque in the UK

Sussex Police are investigating the attack that occurred over the weekend. Eggs were thrown at Peacehaven Mosque in the early hours of Sunday, August 4.

A police spokesperson said they responded to the incident at the mosque on Phyllis Avenue after it was reported overnight between Saturday, August 3, and Sunday, August 4.

“This incident is being treated as a hate crime,” the police spokesperson said. “Our neighbourhood policing team has visited the mosque, and patrols in the area have been increased.”

Authorities are asking anyone with information to report online or call 101, quoting serial 254 of 04/08.

This news follows another recent incident where police responded to a threat against a mosque in Mercatoria, St Leonards, on Sunday, which is also being treated as a hate crime.

Hastings Stand Up to Racism reported on Facebook that Hastings Mosque received a threat of an imminent attack. The group quickly organized support, and within 1.5 hours, over 50 people gathered to defend the mosque and show solidarity with the Muslim community.

Though no attack occurred, the group remains vigilant about potential violent attacks against Muslims, asylum seekers, and migrants.

A Sussex Police spokesperson urged anyone with information about this incident to report online or call 101, quoting serial 681 of 04/08.

The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) has stated that hundreds of mosques across the country are bolstering their security ahead of planned protests.

There are concerns that Islamic places of worship could be targeted during demonstrations expected to occur over the weekend following the Southport stabbing attack.
