Sheikh Bandar Baleela, a leading Imam and Khateeb of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, has been appointed an official Mufti authorized to issue religious rulings (fatwas) for the Makkah region.
The appointment was made by His Eminence the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Dr. Saleh Al-Fawzan, assigning Sheikh Baleela to the Makkah branch of the General Presidency for Scientific Research and Ifta.
In a statement, the Grand Mufti congratulated Sheikh Baleela and expressed confidence that his service would benefit both religious scholarship and the visitors of the Two Holy Mosques.
Sheikh Baleela is one of eight prominent scholars newly assigned to specific regions under a royal directive aimed at ensuring religious rulings originate from reliable, official sources.
The other appointments include;
- Sheikh Dr. Yusif bin Mohammed bin Saeed: Al-Jawf and Northern Borders.
- Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Mohammed Al-Mukhtar: Medina.
- Sheikh Dr. Jibreel bin Mohammed Al-Busayli: Asir and Jazan.
- Sheikh Dr. Ghalib bin Mohammed Hamzi: Al-Baha and Najran.
- Sheikh Dr. Sami bin Mohammed Al-Sughair: Qassim and Hail.
- Sheikh Dr. Bandar bin Abdulaziz Balila: Makkah.
- Sheikh Dr. Abdulilah bin Mohammed Al-Mulla: Eastern Province and Northern Borders.
The regional assignments are designed to make official religious guidance more accessible to citizens and residents across the Kingdom and to ensure fatwas are based on moderate, verified Islamic principles.
