JEDDAH – According to an official spokesman for the Makkah region police, a Saudi citizen has been referred to the Public Prosecution for facilitating the entry of an Israeli journalist into the holy city.
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Friday that the citizen transported the Israeli journalist to Makkah via a dedicated Muslim path.
He said this was an explicit violation of the regulations prohibiting non-Muslims from entering the holy precincts. As a result, a citizen was arrested, and legal action was taken against him.
As the spokesman noted, all visitors to the Kingdom should respect and adhere to the regulations, especially regarding the Holy Mosques and sacred sites.
In addition, “violations of this kind will not be tolerated, and appropriate penalties will be applied to perpetrators,” he said.
In addition, the case of the Israeli journalist involved in the crime was referred to the Public Prosecution.
