Saudi Arabia has moved forward with plans to establish a permanent museum dedicated to preserving the history of Hajj and the Two Holy Mosques, following a meeting of the project’s High Supervisory Committee chaired by Prince Faisal bin Salman, special advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
The initiative, which enjoys the patronage of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, aims to create a comprehensive knowledge resource documenting the evolution of pilgrimage rituals and the architectural development of Islam’s holiest sites.
Originally conceived as the “Encyclopedia of Hajj and the Two Holy Mosques,” the project has expanded into a national initiative managed by the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah) in partnership with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
The committee meeting also announced the “Historical Events in the Prophet’s Biography” forum to be held in Madinah and reviewed progress on several related initiatives, including an upcoming exhibition on Hajj history.
The project brings together prominent scholars and officials including Grand Mosque Imam Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Humaid, Muslim World League Secretary General Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, and Hajj Minister Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah.
