The King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Gate is recognized as the tallest and largest gate of the Grand Mosque and holds the title of the largest gate in the world, according to the General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque.
Standing 13.3 meters high and 7.7 meters wide, and weighing 14 tons, this impressive gate, numbered 100, is known for its modern architectural design combined with Islamic decorative art.
The gate features three external and three internal arches, with three balconies positioned above it.
It is crowned by two minarets that surpass the others in height at the Grand Mosque. The gate’s striking construction and intricate design have made it a prominent landmark.
The General Authority also reported that the Grand Mosque has a total of 210 gates, each equipped with digital panels that signal green when the mosque is open to worshipers and red when it reaches full capacity.
The Gate Management Department plays a crucial role in facilitating smooth movement and ensuring a suitable environment for prayer and rituals at the Grand Mosque.
