Saudi Arabia has officially banned the entry and use of all types and sizes of gas cylinders within the holy sites of Makkah, starting this morning, the first day of Dhul Hijjah.
To minimize fire-related risks and ensure a secure environment for millions of pilgrims, the General Directorate of Civil Defense confirmed the decision, emphasizing that the measure applies to Hajj camps, government facilities, and private sector headquarters across Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah.
The Civil Defense stated that specialized safety supervision teams have already been deployed to conduct intensive inspections across the holy sites.
These teams are actively monitoring for violations and have been authorized to confiscate any gas-powered appliances or cylinders discovered during their field visits.
Authorities also warned that legal action will be taken against individuals or groups who fail to comply with the gas cylinder ban. The statement reiterated that no exceptions will be made in the enforcement of this safety regulation.
Given the extreme heat and dense population in the camps, even a minor incident could pose serious risks, prompting the Civil Defense to implement strict preventive protocols.
Officials urged all service providers, camp organizers, and pilgrims to cooperate fully with the new regulation and avoid bringing or using any gas-powered cooking or heating devices within the sacred areas.
This ban has been a part of the Kingdom’s broader Hajj safety framework in past years and has proven effective in preventing accidents during the pilgrimage season.
