Free Dialysis Center Set Up In A Hyderabad Mosque In India

A mosque located in Langar Louz, Hyderabad, has allotted empty space for setting up a full-ledge hemodialysis unit.

The management of Masjid-e-mohammadika donated some of the empty space in the mosque as a state-of-the-art free dialysis center that will provide free dialysis services for the underprivileged people of lower strata of society, regardless of caste and religion.

The health center is the result of a collaboration between two NGOs, the Helping Hand Foundation and SEED US. The NGOs Helping Hand Foundation and SEED USA have collaborated with the aim of utilizing the empty space in mosques to be used as important public health care facilities to foster harmony in addition to serving the needy.

So far, the two NGOs have established six primary health centers and nursing homes in mosques.

The hemodialysis unit in Hyderabad was officially opened on Thursday by Syed Mazharuddin Hussaini, executive director of SEED. According to Hussaini, around Rs 45 lakh has been invested for the initial setup of this unit. And around Rs 2 lakh per month will be managed by the Helping Hand Foundation.

Mujtaba Hasan Askari, managing trustee of the Helping Hand Foundation said that the hemodialysis unit at the e-mohammadika mosque will be equipped with five Fresenius machines and will receive five more machines in the next three months.

The unit will be designed like a corporate hospital within the mosque building but has separate access for dialysis patients and it is equipped with high-quality equipment, clinical care, and facilities to manage onsite emergencies.

Furthermore, Askari explained that Hyderabad has 50,000 people suffering from chronic kidney disease, so the unit is estimated to save poor patients 1 crore dollars per year in essential health care costs.

This unit will be operated under the medical supervision of Dr. Shoeb Ali Khan, a leading consultant nephrologist and kidney transplant surgeon. A medical doctor, ANMs, dialysis technicians, and an ambulance will be available at the center from 8 am to 8 pm on any given day.

Anyone who needs a free dialysis service from this unit can call 9603540864.
