You have completed your Tawaf and offered the two rakats of prayer. Now, a new Umrah ritual. You prepare to walk the path of Saee, the ritual walking between the hills of Safa and Marwa.
This act reminds the desperate search for water by Hajrah (Hajar), the wife of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.), for her infant son Ismail (A.S.)
Dua To Recite Before Starting Saee
This dua is mentioned in Sahih Muslim 1218.

- Meaning: There is no god but Allah, One, there is no partner with Him. His is the Sovereignty, to Him praise is due, and He is Powerful over everything. There is no god but Allah alone, Who fulfilled His promise, helped His servant and routed the confederates alone.
Why is this Dua Significant?
The first part of this dua affirms the oneness and absolute power of Allah. Allah’s help eventually came with the miracle of Zamzam. Reciting this acknowledges that Allah always helps His faithful servants.
This dua connect the past with the present. You are about to walk the same path Hajrah ran on centuries ago. You are declaring the same faith in the same God who provided for her.
When and how many times should you recite this dua?
- Recite it after your two rakats of prayer after completing your Tawaf and before you walk towards the hill of Safa to start the ritual.
- It is recommended to recite this dua once before you begin your Saee.
Go to the foot of Safa Hill. Stand facing the direction of the Ka’bah. Make your intention (niyyat) for Saee here.
