# ‘Islam Belongs To Germany’, Says President of Germany

**BERLIN** - President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier has uttered a positive statement in which he says "Islam belongs to Germany" amid growing islamophobia and racism in the country.

Racism in Germany is often fueled by far-right groups, media, and politicians making the lives of Muslim immigrants unbeatable.

He also said the population of 5 million Muslims is part of Germany. He also said that Germany is a neutral state. But religious freedom in no way shows that the country is free of religion.

His remarks came after a report said Muslim immigrants face Islamophobia daily in Germany. A total of 898 anti-Muslim incident reports in 2022.
